We walked 8.1miles today in about 4 hours. not bad the thing is that when we woke up we heard people say that there would be no water till the next shelter. so we filled up 3 litters of water and set off. the first half mile went well it was mostly Down hill. their we said goodbye to Chelsea the rige runner then it went up. we hiked and hiked up the mountain finitely it was time to just walk. it was really nice to be flat.
about half way through it started to rain. just a light sprinkle. we put our rain jackets on and continued on. We walked for a long time with out rain but then it started really coming down hard. you just really can’t do much to stop it from making your shoes and socks really wet. you just have to learn to live with it and keep walking.
after about 2 hours we are about down to Gap. their we see umbrella (that is his tail name because he uses an umbrella to hike with instead of a rain coat) he is standing by a car that has its trunk open. normally this just means it might be some one that is picking them up but along the Appalachian trail their are people called trail angles. these people spend their own money to buy thing for thru hikers. in the back of her truck their were bagels and cookies fruit roll ups marshmallows bars and chips. it was hiker heaven we stopped their just long enough for me to eat three bagels 13 marshmallows a fruit roll up a a bar so about ten minutes. after that amount of time we knew that if we did not leave then then we might never leave. so we took a couple packs of ramen some pop tarts and cookies and we started hiking again.
near the end of my day we had to cross a river it was not that big but still a bit nerve racking.
after that we were at the lean too right at one o’clock the shelter was supper packed but eveyone moved over to make room for us. We put our sleeping bags out and Tryed to get warm after the cold rain. Then went to bed.
